Independent Contractor Opportunity

These field-service opportunities are structured as independent contractor engagements and are not W-2 employee positions. Contractors are responsible for their own applicable taxes, insurance, tools, equipment, licensing, registrations, transportation, and other business expenses. Engagement terms, compensation, and requirements are determined by the applicable independent contractor agreement and the scope of services.

Position Overview

Safety & Security Installation Technicians install residential and commercial safety and security equipment, including cameras, smart security devices, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, alarms, and related equipment within the technician's authorized scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install security cameras and related devices.
  • Install or replace smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Install approved safety alarms and security devices.
  • Configure and test devices according to manufacturer requirements.
  • Perform basic device setup and connectivity checks.
  • Explain basic operation to customers.
  • Maintain clean and professional work areas.
  • Document completed installations.
  • Identify conditions requiring licensed electrical, fire alarm, or security professionals.
  • Follow applicable safety requirements and manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing security, low-voltage, smart-home, electrical, or related equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of wiring, mounting, tools, and device configuration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Appropriate tools.
  • Professional customer-service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security camera installation experience.
  • Smart-home experience.
  • Low-voltage experience.
  • Wi-Fi/network-connected device experience.
  • Property management or rental-community experience.
  • Appropriate licenses, certifications, or registrations where required.

Contractor Requirements

Important: Work involving electrical wiring, fire alarm systems, security systems, or other regulated work must be performed by appropriately licensed or qualified professionals when required by applicable law.

Independent Contractor Requirements

Independent contractor opportunities are governed by a separate written agreement. Contractors are responsible for maintaining the licenses, registrations, insurance, tools, equipment, transportation, and other business resources required for the services they perform.

  • JM Connect Services does not guarantee a minimum number of projects, hours, or earnings.

These are independent contractor opportunities and are not W-2 employee positions. Independent contractors are not eligible for JM Connect Services employee benefits.
